December 15, 2010HHES Library & Title I Team Up For Reading Challenge
December 12, 2010What do Million Dollar Readers & Read Like A Rock Star have in common?
The HHES Library and The Title I Program are working together this year to promote the love of reading throughout all grades. Second quarter kids in third through sixth grade had the chance to win prizes, photo ops, and enjoy a popcorn movie event if they took the challenge to read at least 6 Accelerated chapter books at their reading level, and receive 80% or better on AR quizzes. Close to 50 students succeeded and joined the fun December 10th.
Here’s one of our 3rd/4th grade Million Dollar Readers!

December 10, 2010Second quarter the Title I Program and the HHES Library joined forces and organized a reading challenge rockin with lots of fun! 3rd – 6th graders have been reading intently the past 9 weeks to attend two reading challenge parties.
Forty, 3rd/4th grade students celebrated a job well done December 10th, by attending the Million Dollar Reader movie/popcorn festivities at the HHES Library. Many thanks to the HHES PTA, especially Mrs. Benzo, for supplying popcorn for the Million Dollar Readers.
Meanwhile, eighteen 5th/6th graders attended the “Read Like a Rock Star” party in the music room. Their party involved jamming to “Just Dance 2” on the Wii, photo ops, and decorating picture frames with their rock-star pics. Thanks to Mrs. Bauman for joining the fun and helping out with our Rock Star party.
A special thanks goes out to the HHES 3rd – 6th teachers for encouraging their kids to join the reading challenge and supporting the love of reading in our school!
