Just How Many Books Are In This Display Case?

Students had to peek through flaps in the wonderful banner decorated by fifth and sixth grade students to determine just how many books were on display.  Prizes were awarded to the closest estimates.

The second annual poem in your pocket was lots of fun.  Kids spent the week before National Library Week writing down a favorite poem to have in their pocket on Wednesday.  Any time an adult asked if they had a poem in their pocket they got a chance to share it.  Kids collected tickets throughout the day every time they read their poem.  Ice cream sandwiches were handed out to 25 lucky ticket winners.

Here’s one of the lucky winners. Yum!

The VCS Librarians used this opportunity to weed books and organized a ” Buck A Bag Of Books” sale to wrap up the week.

We had the coffee pot on, tea and hot chocolate, as well as baked goods for people to enjoy while perusing the weeded books.  For a buck people walked away with a bag full of books to enjoy.
